How to Set Up a OneDrive-Only Account in Microsoft Office 365

If you use an account only to mirror data to OneDrive and run backup or other applications against the uploaded files, you may not need email or the other apps included in a Microsoft Office 365 Business Basic or Business Standard subscription. To reduce security exposure, you can enable only the app needed for OneDrive.

Steps

1. Sign in to Microsoft Office 365 as an administrator.
2. Select the account.
3. Go to Licenses and apps.
4. Under Apps, click Select all twice to clear all selections. Then select only SharePoint (Plan 1) and click Save.

You could then combine this with additional Conditional Access Policies to make it even tighter.
