The boxer engine, development, history, production
-
Break-in period: Regardless of what the folks at the dealership say, after driving for about 2200 kms, the stick shift is smoother, there is less noise from the tires, from the engine as well and it feels smoother. During the break-in period officially at 1600kms, revs should not go beyond 4000.
-
The oil takes about 10-15 mins to warm up. There is no oil gauge, only coolant temperate on the dash. So remember to wait for that time before you start revving beyond 4000 rpm.
-
When the engine is cold, shifting is sluggish, not smooth.
-
The torque is the highest between 3000-4000 rpm.
-
It is a noisy engine. Many different sounds.
-
Changing from gear 1 to 2 is the hardest to smoothen out.
