On a freshly installed Windows machine, the usual method of mapping a Samba share through File Explorer might not work. We tested this on Windows build 26200. Here’s a quick terminal command that may help:
-
Open Terminal as administrator.
-
Run the following command, replacing the server name, share name, and username with your own:
net use z: \\samba-server-name\samba-share /user:your-username-for-the-share * -
Enter the password when prompted. Then go to the
Z:drive to access your share.
Even after running this command, the mapped drive might not show up in Windows File Explorer. Perhaps it’s a bug.
